Sadian has been studying Middle Eastern dance for 7 years. Currently living in Midlothian , VA , she is part of Jewels of Johara, an intermediate level group instructed by Julynn Holte. Sadian is a mother of four children ages 9, 7, 5, and 3. Life is very busy but dance is an essential element to balance everyday stress. Sadian says, “I am passionate about community. Dance brings a diverse group of people together each seeking fulfillment in some part of life. Each class, each workshop, each hafla is an opportunity to support each other: listening, smiling, conversing, knowing, sharing, learning and growing in each others tales of our daily lives. I sought out dance because of the emotional connection I felt personally with the movement. I carried this rush with me into adulthood and found that at my lowest points I gravitated toward group dance. Not to be lost in the crowd, not one in many but to be part of a whole. Middle Eastern dance in particular is rooted in communal life. This form of dance links the participants to each others joys and sorrows. One group, one collection of people connecting to each other through music, through rhythm and through movement. Everyone is accepted, a united community.”
